If you are looking for Housing, there are a few options available to you.

You can complete an application form to join our waiting list here at Westfield Housing Association, we are not part of Choice Based Lettings so keep our own waiting lists.  Our application form is available for completion online and for those who don’t have access online a paper format and can be requested by calling the office on 01900 602906 or emailed enquiries@westfieldha.org.uk.

You can register with Cumbria Choice also known as Choice-Based Lettings.  Cumbria Choice is a platform for several Social Landlords to advertise their up and coming available properties.  Once you register on line you will receive a letter from them confirming receipt and if you are accepted you will be advised of what band have been placed into and you will be given a registration number.  More information is available on their website www.cumbriachoice.org.uk

The Housing options team may be able to advise you over the telephone. However, if the situation requires more detailed advice you may need an appointment to see a Housing Options Officer.

Duty to Refer and Self-referral

All public authorities have - from October 1, 2018 - a 'Duty to Refer' cases of homelessness, or threatened with homelessness, to a local housing authority. You may also refer yourself to the local housing authority. For more information, go to the Duty to Refer page.  Click here.

How Cumberland Council can help you

Cumberland Council can assess your current housing situation and work out what your needs are.  If you are worried that you might become homeless, they can give you advice on the next steps to and can help you develop a housing plan so you can work towards finding a permanent home

Their aim to help you stay in your accommodation and will be happy to contact your landlord or mortgage provider to negotiate on your behalf. There are a range of homelessness prevention measures that can be used to help you if you are in danger of losing your accommodation:
