Adaptations
Ensuring homes are appropriate to individual needs is a key aim for Westfield Housing Association and the provision of aids and adaptations is important to us achieving this.
Minor adaptions
If you need a small adjustment to your home, please contact us to discuss your needs. We will arrange for the adaptation to be carried out as soon as possible or will ask you to contact the County Council, Occupational Therapy team for a detailed assessment.
Major Adaptions
We work with Allerdale Borough Council as local authority partners to gain grant funding to enable our tenants to live safely and independently in their homes.
Disabled residents can apply to Allerdale Borough Council for up to £30,000 to adapt their Westfield homes to help them to maintain an independent lifestyle.
The grant can cover works such as:
- Improving access to rooms and facilities. This might mean, for example, stairlifts, level access showers and door widening
- Adapting heating or lighting controls to make them easier to use.
- Improving the entrances to your home and access to your garden.
Eligibility criteria: Adaptions are recommended after an assessment by an Occupational Therapist. The grant is available for adults and children however if the disabled person is over 18 years of age the grant is financially means tested.
