We welcomed 150–200 visitors, and from the very first families arriving before we’d even finished setting up, the energy was amazing. Some of our young residents joined us from 9:45am right through to the evening party at 6pm – a real sign of how much this event means.

A huge shoutout to Susan Duxbury, Housing Services Officer, for an epic job organising and problem-solving throughout the day.

Why it matters:

Operation Respect is about more than fun – it’s about building connection, trust and pride of place.

Hosting right in the heart of Westfield meant neighbours, families and friends were able spend the whole day together – and talk about it for weeks after!

Highlights of the day included:
•  Bouncy castles in action from start to finish
•  108 burgers and countless ice creams were served up (the vans were kept VERY busy!)
•  So many compliments about how polite, kind and helpful our Westfield children are
•  A group of mams enjoying craft-making on the grass, teaching kids to make dream catchers
•  The brand new Summer Sunset Afterparty for young people (11+) where 25+ joined us for inflatables, a smoothie bike (a HUGE hit), and lots of food!

Plus
A trip down memory lane exhibition of 75 years of Westfield Housing Association in the Minto Centre.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our partners and local statutory and voluntary organisations and businesses who attended – your relentless support makes all this possible.  Special thanks also to Shake Waffle & Roll, Monty's Ice Creams and Bubble & Bounce, who were a huge hit.
